In a bold declaration that has set social media abuzz, women’s boxing champion Claressa Shields has renewed her challenge to social media star Jake Paul, expressing confidence in her ability to overcome him in a professional setting.
Speaking with TMZ earlier this year, Shields dismissed Paul’s capabilities, stating, “I don’t think Jake Paul has the skills to get inside the ring with me, or any of the guys at 154 pounds and up who is ranked in the rankings. I’m not gonna lie to you. 1-10.”
The champion recently doubled down on her stance during an interview with DAZN’s Akin Reyes, specifically addressing the technical aspects of a potential matchup. “I would beat him in a fight, and you know that, absolutely [I would beat him in ten-ounce gloves and no headgear],” Shields asserted. “I’m a big woman. The biggest and strongest man doesn’t win all the fights. So what’s the difference here? I’ve been boxing for 18 years. 18.”
Shields, known for her impressive career achievements, elaborated on the fundamental differences between herself and Paul while emphasizing her technical prowess. “I’ve got you, he’s got a d—, I’ve got a vagina. I get it. But what about the skills I have? That doesn’t matter?” she questioned. “He’s got to be able to break me down, and he has to be able to hit me. I’ve got to be able to break him down, and I’ve got to be able to hit him. It’s certain things that I can do, that he doesn’t even know yet.”
As of now, Paul has not publicly responded to Shields’ latest challenge, leaving fans speculating about the possibility of this unique matchup materializing in the future.
