Brendan Schaub reacts to Ronda Rousey’s book: It’s just life, We weren’t a match

Ronda Rousey has been actively promoting her latest memoir ‘Our Fight.’ It follows her journey through the latter part of her MMA career and her transition into professional wrestling. This book serves as a sequel to her 2015 release, providing an in-depth look at her experiences and personal life.

In the book, Rousey candidly discusses her past relationship with Brendan Schaub. He is a former UFC heavyweight and now a popular podcaster. The pair dated briefly in 2014 before parting ways the same year.

Rousey alleges that Schaub played “mind games” during their relationship, a revelation that has generated significant media buzz. She also shares her satisfaction in seeing her future husband Travis Browne defeat Schaub in their 2014 match.

Schaub addressed Rousey’s claims on his podcast ‘The Fighter and The Kid.’ In the episode, Schaub questions the timing and motive behind her comments. He expressed confusion over why Rousey would bring up their past relationship a decade later, suggesting that the issues she mentioned were more related to her training camp than their personal dynamics.

He stated: “But, why bring it up 14 years later? I mean, she has kids and it obviously worked out [for her] and like, it’s just life. We weren’t a match. So when she says ‘mind games’, no, it’s not mind games. The mind games came up from, in all honesty, her camp. Like that was the trouble that she had and that’s a whole other issue that she can address. I have nothing to do with that.”

Schaub emphasized that their relationship issues stemmed from compatibility, not mind games. He reiterated that while he still holds Rousey in high regard as a friend, they were simply not a match.

Schaub further clarified his perspective, stating: “I didn’t train at her camp, I don’t know the coach, I have nothing to do with that. I guess when she says mind games, that would mean [we] weren’t a match. So yeah, and you were around during that time and you knew this. I’d be like ‘Dude, I don’t know what to do.”

Despite the public airing of their past, Schaub maintains no ill will towards Rousey. He expressed contentment with their respective paths, acknowledging that they both found partners who are better suited for them.

He concluded by saying: “I love the girl as a friend but when it came to that dude it’s just not’, she’s not my person. I found my person.”
