Chael Sonnen found an unlikely defender recently. Former champion of the UFC turned internet personality found himself in legal trouble after he reportedly got physical with 5 separate people.
Las Vegas Police Public Information Officer Larry Hadfield wrote in a statement to MMA Fighting on Monday.
“Sonnen was issued a battery citation for each individual victim, then escorted off property,” Hadfield wrote. “Due to the fact the misdemeanors were committed outside of a police officer’s presence, an arrest was not conducted.”
Now everyone’s favorite punchline – Brendan Schaub is ready to clear the air. Schaub alleges he spoke to Sonnen. He has addressed what transpired during latest episode of the now cancelled ‘Below the Belt‘ podcast:
“So I think by Chael doing this, it just adds to the legend of Chael Sonnen. He was protecting his girl. And for that dumbass who got absolutely annihilated by the great Chael Sonnen, you deserved it man. And that’s what you get.”
“This is not a case of Chael hitting his wife like Jon [Jones] did. I think they dropped the charges. This is not a case of Chael Sonnen being high and wrecking his Bentley with strippers in the car. This is not the case of Chael domestic violence in any facet. And I think everyone should hold their judgement to get more details.”
“Here’s what happened. Chael Sonnen was obviously working and he was with his wife and his wife is a f*cking saint and also a dime piece. And some drunk guy with his girl kept making comments about his wife, saying about her t**s, her a**, right in front of him. Well, play stupid games, win stupid prizes, cause you are talking and disrespecting one of the toughest guys on the planet and definitely one of the toughest ever to compete in the UFC or Bellator for that matter. And you’re doing it in front of his face, then there’s gonna be repercussions. And any guy that wanted to do that for their girl/ladies you got a girlfriend.”
One of the reasons why we’re side eyeing this account is due to the fact Sonnen has his own youtube channel and would probably use it to bring publicity to his own business. In addition to that Schaub appears to have an on going beef with Jon Africa*.
Brendan Schaub slammed Jones on his podcast ‘The Fighter and The Kid’. He despises Jones for still acting like a good guy after all the incidents Jones did.
“God had nothing to do with you hitting your wife, my man… I was speaking with someone very high up from the UFC about Jon Jones and that guy was like, ‘think how much money he has missed out on, with all the bulls**t he’s done in his life. The millions and millions of dollars, the Nike endorsement, the big fights, everything!… Self-sabotage.” Said Schaub.
