British heavyweight boxer Dave Allen joined Ariel Helwani on The Ariel Helwani Show ahead of his May 16th match against Filip Hrgović in Doncaster. During the conversation, Allen casually admitted to peeing in sinks.
The moment came after Helwani complimented Allen on his TikTok popularity. Allen responded with a confession that immediately caught Helwani off guard.
“Basically, I got loads of followers,” Allen said. “When I urinate, I do it in my sink at home. I do it everywhere. Every sink really. 9 out of 10 sinks.”
He then tried to explain the reasoning behind it.
“I will urinate in the sink because I’ve got a bad aim,” Allen said. “Sometimes it goes behind me. I try and wee the toilet and it ends up behind me. It’s weird. It goes around my legs.”
Allen continued by describing the aftermath in graphic detail.
“So, honestly, yeah, it’s mad in the morning,” he said. “You should see it everywhere. And the missus just started having a go at me.”
He added that the habit dated back years.
“I’ve been weeing in the sink on and off since about 15,” Allen said before insisting the behavior was more common than people admit. “People do it. People lie. People say they don’t, but everyone does it.”
Allen also explained why he prefers sinks over toilets.
“The sink, you can, like the mirror is bang in line with the sink,” he said. “You can just rest yourself upon the sink, you know, is 100% accuracy thing going off.”
Then came another line that surprised Helwani.
“And you don’t have to wash your hands either because you’re not actually touching anything,” Allen added.
Still trying to process the conversation, Helwani asked directly: “So you’re actually urinating in the sink?”
“I urinate in the sink,” Allen replied without hesitation. “Straight in it as well.”
Helwani then asked how tall someone would need to be to pull that off comfortably.
“Pretty tall,” Allen answered. “Six foot three and a half.”
The conversation somehow became even stranger when Allen admitted what happens if he misses the sink.
“If I miss, this is annoying me, I sometimes I’ll just put the plug in and leave it there,” he said.
Once Helwani realized what Allen meant by “the plug,” Allen confirmed it and explained how his family reacts.
“Sometimes she’ll go in there and go, ‘David,’” Allen said. “And I’ll go, ‘Well, look, it’s a good one.’”
According to Allen, his partner is far less amused by the situation.
“And she’ll go, ‘It’s not that funny, actually. We’ve got kids,’” he said. “But I tend to try and not do it with the bathroom the kids use.”
Near the end of the interview, after the conversation had finally moved back to boxing, Helwani signed off with one final request.
“Take it easy on the sinks,” Helwani joked. “Maybe no more peeing in the sink just for the sanity.”
Allen immediately fired back with one last punchline.
“I’m going to go do it right now,” he said.
