Content creator Andrew Wilson is facing renewed accusations of misrepresenting his military background after commentator Travis Pangburn resurfaced clips in a recent video showing Wilson giving conflicting answers about whether he served at all.
The controversy centers on two separate public appearances. In one clip, Wilson is asked directly, “When were you in the army?” He responds, “I was in the army for a very limited amount of time, years and years ago.” Pressed on how long that was, he says, “It wasn’t very long. About a year.”
But in a separate appearance, this time during what Wilson describes as a “TikTok invasion,” he is asked plainly, “So did you serve, Andrew?” His answer: “I did not. No.”
Confronted with the contradiction, Wilson did not dispute that he gave two different answers. Instead, he defended the denial as a tactic.
“In order to move the conversation of the argument along, I just say no and we move along,” he said.
Pangburn pointed out that this meant he had lied. Wilson did not deny it, saying only, “I don’t really consider… well, we’ll get into that.”
Pangburn argued the shifting answers were exactly why veterans and online observers had grown suspicious. “So, did you lie there? You just said no,” Pangburn said, adding later, “Why would you lie? If the answer was yes, just say yes, but I’m not going to talk about that.”
However, Wilson produced documents, including a federal f*rearms license and what he described as a National Guard report of separation, showing a total service time of “10 months, 11 days.” Pangburn acknowledged the document appeared to confirm roughly a year of service and said, “Thank you for your service,” while still pressing Wilson on why he had denied serving at all in the other appearance.
He said, “But let this be a lesson to you, Andrew. Don’t go around the internet lying, whether it’s in the positive direction or negative direction, lying about your military service, cuz people take that seriously.”
Pangburn maintained that producing records did not resolve the core issue: the inconsistency itself. “You said you did in one hand, you said you didn’t in the other. You’ve outlined twice in this video where you admit to lying about it. That’s a problem,” he said.
