Former kickboxing champion Andrew Tate has expressed interest in a potential boxing match with social media star Jake Paul, revealing there were previous discussions about the two facing each other in the ring.
In a recent interview, Tate disclosed that he and Paul have been in communication, describing him as “an all-right guy.” He mentioned that plans for a matchup might have materialized if not for his recent legal situation in Romania.
“We’ll see what happens in the future. We’ll see perhaps, it’s possible,” Tate said. “We’ll see I’ll escape this matrix attack and perhaps if he needs to be taught a lesson, I’ll be the guy to teach him a lesson.”
Despite the competitive talk, Tate acknowledged Paul’s contribution to boxing and his promotional abilities. “Jake’s an okay guy. I mean he’s putting boxing on the map to be fair to him,” Tate remarked. He particularly praised Paul’s marketing skills, noting how the social media star can generate interest in unlikely matchups.
“Nobody should give a shit about watching a 60 year old fight 27 year old, but Jake can make them care,” Tate said, adding that Paul’s ability to generate public interest allows him to “get paid more than most boxers will ever make in their entire careers for one fight.”
The potential matchup remains speculative for now, as Tate continues to deal with his ongoing legal situation in Romania. However, the door appears to remain open for a future showdown between the two controversial personalities.
