The aftermath of Adam22’s boxing match against Jason Luv continues to generate controversy, with the podcaster now offering his explanation for a performance that left sponsors threatening legal action and fans demanding answers.
Adam22 addressed in a recent video what many viewers described as a puzzling lack of offense during the bout. His account painted a picture of immediate disillusionment once the bell rang.
“I believed that by putting my hands up I was going to be able to take some hits and then hit him back,” Adam22 explained. “The first hit that I take, you see my arms go from this to this. He just hit so much harder than I ever could have really realized was possible.”
According to Adam22, that initial moment of contact fundamentally changed his approach to the match. “Yeah, that was pretty much the moment where I was like, what the f**k was I thinking,” he said.
The explanation comes as event organizer Adin Ross revealed during a livestream that the situation has escalated beyond mere disappointment. Ross disclosed that sponsors were reviewing contractual language to determine whether Adam22’s performance constituted a breach of agreement.
“You guys were not happy with the main event the way it went, right?” Ross said during the broadcast. “Adam didn’t throw a punch. I spoke with Adam about it and I said, ‘Adam, you didn’t throw a punch.'”
Ross confirmed that contracts for the event included specific language about competitive effort. “There is something in the contract that does state: if you don’t try and you don’t give it your all, you lose some of your purse,” he revealed.
Ross also stated that such situations create complications extending beyond public perception. “Truth be told, if you go in the ring and you don’t really do what everyone’s expecting you to do and try, there’s a lot of problems,” Ross stated.
During the conversation captured on video, others questioned whether a younger version of Adam22 might have approached the match differently.
When asked about how he would have performed in 2017, Adam22 dismissed the notion entirely, though he acknowledged being younger at that time.
Ross made clear that organizers were considering how to address the situation moving forward. “One thing I did say was, we don’t want to look sweet,” Ross stated. “We don’t want to just basically… we gotta make examples out of people.”
While Ross stopped short of confirming definitive legal action, he indicated that attorneys were actively examining the matter.
