A White House press briefing took an unexpected turn Thursday when reporter Cara Castronuova from LindellTV raised questions about President Donald Trump‘s health and physical fitness routine.
“President Trump is in incredible shape for a 78-year-old man,” Castronuova remarked during the briefing. “Will the White House be releasing his fitness plan?”
The question prompted laughter from others in the press room, with Castronuova adding lightheartedly,
“I’m serious, because I want to know what he’s doing. I want to know if Robert Kennedy Jr. is helping with his fitness plan. Does he still eat McDonald’s?”
Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to the inquiry by noting that the President is scheduled to undergo his first physical examination of his second term, though a specific timeline has not yet been announced.
Donald Trump’s physical report also just became public. Trump, who stands 6-foot-3, currently weighs 224lbs, 20-pounds less than his last physical exam as president in 2020 when he weighed 244lbs. Trump had a colonoscopy in July 2024, that found a benign polyp and diverticulosis, which “is inflammation of irregular bulging pouches in the wall of the large intestine.” The physical also revealed Trump has had cataract surgery in both eyes. Trump is currently taking two thins: Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe, according to the health memo obtained by People. He’s also taking Aspirin for cardiac prevention and he uses Mometasone cream as needed for a skin condition.
The exchange quickly gained traction on social media, with reactions ranging from amusement to criticism. Some commentators viewed the question as overly deferential, while others saw it as a valid inquiry about the Commander-in-Chief’s health regimen.
Health and fitness have remained prominent topics in American politics, particularly following the intense scrutiny of both Trump and former President Biden‘s physical and cognitive capabilities during the 2024 campaign.
The White House has not indicated whether it plans to release details about President Trump’s fitness routine beyond the standard medical information typically disclosed following presidential physicals.
