Oscar De La Hoya Claps Back at Joe Rogan: “Why Are You Afraid to Have Me On?”

In a fiery response to recent comments made on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, boxing promoter Oscar De La Hoya has issued a bold challenge to both Joe Rogan and UFC CEO Dana White for a joint podcast appearance.

The controversy ignited when Rogan, during episode #2280 of his podcast, suggested De La Hoya was “off the rails” regarding his comments about Terence Crawford. De La Hoya quickly defended his position on social media.

“Did he really ask why I’m commenting on Terence Crawford? The rankings have him at No.1 at 154 pounds when he doesn’t even fight at that weight anymore,” De La Hoya responded. “I’m commenting because my fighter Vergil Ortiz beat Israil Madrimov last Saturday much easier than Crawford did. I’m also commenting because it’s my fu*king job to be a promoter and promote my fighters.”

The situation stems from De La Hoya’s recent predictions about Crawford’s potential matchup with Canelo Alvarez, which is part of a four-fight Saudi GEA deal for Riyadh Season. De La Hoya had suggested that while Crawford possessed superior technical skills, Alvarez’s power and size advantage would be decisive factors.

Taking aim at both Rogan and White, De La Hoya proposed what he claims would be a record-breaking podcast episode. “Joe, it must be in your contract to say ill on me and not say one nice word about me… Let me propose something – this will be the highest-rated show you’ll ever do… Have me and your daddy Dana on the podcast together. You can moderate the podcast.”

The likelihood of such a podcast materializing appears slim, given the long-standing tensions between De La Hoya and White, spanning more than a decade. The UFC’s historical stance against collaborating with rivals suggests this proposed meeting may remain just that – a proposal.

The exchange marks another chapter in the ongoing saga between these prominent combat sports figures, with De La Hoya maintaining his position as one of boxing’s most outspoken promoters.
