Nikita Hand, who recently filed legal proceedings against MMA star Conor McGregor, was forced to relocate after masked intruders broke into her Drimnagh property in June 2024, stabbing her partner and vandalizing her home.
During the High Court proceedings, it was revealed that a group of men wearing balaclavas burst into Hand’s bedroom but were “driven out by her partner,” who sustained stab wounds during the confrontation. Hand’s young daughter, present in another room, called emergency services while the attackers proceeded to break the front windows before fleeing the scene.
Hand’s legal team, represented by Senior Counsel Ray Boland, explicitly stated they were “not laying that at the feet of the defendants or saying they had anything to do with that.” However, they maintained that the attack was not random and suggested it came from McGregor’s supporters.
Speaking outside court, Ms Hand said: “I hope my story is a reminder that no matter how afraid you might be – speak up, you have a voice and keep on fighting for justice.
“I know this has impacted not only my life, my daughter’s, my family and friends tremendously. It’s something that I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. Now that justice has been served, I can now try and move on and look forward to the future with my family and friends and daughter.” Asked if she felt vindicated following the jury’s decision, she said: “Yes, I do. Thank you.”
The incident led Hand to seek relocation costs as part of her civil action. Property valuer Patrick Sheehan testified that her Drimnagh house was valued at approximately $467,000. Hand sought properties in “superior areas” of Dublin, with prices ranging between $543,000 and $760,000.
John Gordon, addressing the jury, emphasized that Hand “lived in fear” and needed to leave her area, adding that she would always be “a marked woman” for standing up to McGregor.
Justice Owens ultimately ruled the home invasion evidence “completely irrelevant” to the case and barred its mention during the trial. The jury, while aware of Hand’s relocation claims, was not informed of the specific circumstances behind her move.
