A 27-year-old mixed martial arts pro, Luis Guel, found himself facing serious charges following two separate altercations. The first incident occurred on August 3rd, where Guel allegedly assaulted a man during a dispute on Jefferson Street. The second, a domestic incident involving his pregnant ex-girlfriend, escalated on September 1st, resulting in further allegations of violence.
On the night of August 3rd, police responded to a report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers encountered a couple who claimed Guel had attacked the man. According to their account, the couple had stopped their car after noticing a commotion between two women. When the wife attempted to intervene, she was pushed aside by Guel. Her husband stepped in to protect her, only to be met with a punch to the face. Things quickly escalated, with Guel allegedly delivering multiple blows, knocking the man to the ground, and continuing the assault by kicking him.
Witnesses noted that Guel didn’t hold back, twisting the man’s ankle as if attempting to cause more damage. The victim, in obvious pain, did not attempt to fight back, knowing Guel’s background as an MMA fighter. The altercation left the man with visible injuries, including a swollen ankle that later caused him to miss work. Video footage corroborated the couple’s statements, further implicating Guel in the attack.
Just weeks later, on September 1st, Guel was involved in a domestic disturbance with his ex-girlfriend, who was six months pregnant with his child. According to her account, Guel entered her home without permission and proceeded to physically assault her. He allegedly hit her multiple times, grabbed her by the hair, and slammed her head into the bed. In the aftermath, officers found evidence supporting her claims, including a chunk of hair that had been ripped out during the altercation.
Guel’s violent behavior didn’t stop there, as the woman reported that after the attack, he continued to yell before falling asleep in her apartment. Taking advantage of the situation, she discreetly texted a friend to call law enforcement. Guel was arrested at the scene and taken to jail.
This isn’t Guel’s first run-in with the law. He has a prior conviction for serious domestic assault in 2021. While his MMA career hasn’t gained much traction, with an 0-4 record this year, these latest charges may cast an even darker shadow on his future in the sport.
