(Video) Ben Askren admits he’s on TRT: Haters Need to Calm Down

Former UFC star Ben Askren has addressed recent speculation about his physique, responding to fans who have accused him of using testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). In a candid video message, Askren acknowledged that he has indeed optimized his hormone levels, but emphasized that this is not illegal or cheating since he is no longer competing.

Askren explained that a few years ago, he underwent a full blood panel at a wellness clinic in Texas, which revealed lower testosterone levels. He has since taken steps to address this, resulting in noticeable physical changes. However, he stressed that he never used any PEDs  during his active MMA career, stating, “I honor my word every freaking time.”

“Yo, I can’t make a video these days without you guys accusing me of being on TRT, so I need to respond. Well, duh, obviously. I don’t like the issue with that. A couple of years ago, I went to Ways to Well in Texas to get stem cell shots for my shoulders, and in the meantime, they offered me a full blood panel. It came back showing some changes that happen as you get older, whatever.

Obviously, I look better now than I did back then, so all of you are accusing me. Well, yeah, I’m using it. My testosterone level went down, now it’s back up, and it’s great. I do other things, too—I don’t eat dessert, and I work out regularly. But you gotta think: if I’ve had a physical transformation because of this, and other fighters look like that, I’m not gonna go full Nate Diaz and say all these guys are cheating, but a lot of them are.

I never used anything while I was competing, simply because I don’t think it’s healthy”

The retired star highlighted the health benefits of optimizing hormone levels, particularly as one ages. He encouraged his followers to research the topic, noting the potential advantages of maintaining balanced testosterone levels. Askren compared it to taking vitamins or other supplements, questioning why there should be any stigma attached to hormone optimization.

Addressing the cost concerns, Askren mentioned that the treatment is relatively inexpensive, making it accessible for those interested in exploring this option for their health. He emphasized that his goal is to stay healthy and continue helping athletes in his current role as a coach and mentor.

Askren also touched on the broader issue of metabolic health in America, aligning himself with public figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in promoting overall wellness. He urged his audience to consider ways to improve their health, including hormone optimization if appropriate.

While confirming the accusations about his hormone use, Askren maintained a lighthearted tone, telling his critics not to be “jealous haters.” He concluded by reiterating the positive impact this decision has had on his energy levels, recovery time, and overall well-being.
