(Video) Dana White flinches and security intervenes as Leon Edwards lunges at Belal Muhammad

UFC President Dana White experienced a brief scare during the final face-off between UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards and his challenger, Belal Muhammad, ahead of their title bout at UFC 304 in Manchester, UK.

The tension was palpable as the two were brought together for the traditional staredown. Immediately, Edwards and Muhammad surged forward, going nose-to-nose as security personnel quickly moved in to intervene.

Muhammad made the first move, raising his knuckles to Edwards’ head, seemingly mimicking his planned knockout blow. However, the champion remained unfazed and, in a surprising move, jokingly lunged at his opponent in an attempt to make him flinch.

The gesture caught White off guard, as the UFC president flinched, clearly concerned about the possibility of a physical altercation breaking out on stage. Fortunately, Muhammad held his ground, but the intensity of the moment was undeniable.

Security personnel quickly stepped in, separating the two and escorting them away from the confrontation. The crowd in Manchester erupted in support of the hometown favorite, chanting “Headshot dead” as the two combatants were bundled off in different directions.

This was not the first time tensions had flared between Edwards and Muhammad this week. Earlier, the two had encountered each other in the same elevator at a  hotel, leading to a verbal exchange that was quickly diffused by their respective teams.

Despite the heated antics, Edwards remains the overwhelming favorite heading into the bout. The Birmingham native is riding an impressive undefeated streak and boasts a frightening knockout record. Current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya believes that Edwards will finish before the final bell.

“Belal’s got pressure, man,” Adesanya said. “He’s able to get to people and put his will on them. For Leon, he’s on a massacre right now. He’s on a run. I don’t think it’s gonna be much different than the Colby Covington. Leon might finish him.”

As the two continue their preparations for the highly anticipated clash, the anticipation continues to build. Fans in Manchester will no doubt be eager to see if the champion can maintain his dominance or if the challenger can pull off the upset victory.
