In a recent UFC event, the light heavyweight bout between Magomed Gadzhiyasulov and Brendson Ribeiro took an unexpected turn when Gadzhiyasulov appeared to engage in unsportsmanlike conduct. During the bout, commentators Daniel Cormier (DC) and Michael Bisping were caught whispering to each other, seemingly to avoid the referee’s attention.
Gadzhiyasulov grabbed the fense behind his opponent pinning him to the fence. This obscured the view from the ref.
However, Gadzhiyasulov’s actions did not go unnoticed by the commentary team.

Cormier can be heard expressing his frustration, saying, “He’s got the fence again. He was literally holding the fence behind his back. Look, he was like literally holding the fence.” Cormier, realizing the referee’s proximity, chose to whisper his response to Bisping, likely to avoid drawing attention to the situation.
As the bout progressed, the commentary team continued to discreetly discuss Gadzhiyasulov’s questionable tactics. At one point, Bisping questioned Cormier’s whispering, “Why are you whispering to me?”
Cormier explained: “What a referee is right there.”
The covert attempts didn’t go unnoticed:” And now Jason’s smiling at us.”
In the end, Gadzhiyasulov emerged victorious, earning a majority decision victory over Ribeiro.
