The Colorado Springs shooter has been all over the news this week.
In a twist nobody could’ve predicted, he turned out to be the son of an old mixed martial artist who once competed in the UFC and even dabbled in adult entertainment.
A shooting incident happened on Saturday, November 19 in Colorado. An armed man entered Club Q, an LBTQ club, and fired shots at the club goers. The attack killed 5 people and heavily injured at least 19 others.
The suspect was later confirmed to be 22 years old Anderson Lee Aldrich. He was disarmed by one of the performers at the club and successfully arrested without any shootout with the police. Aldrich was pretty cooperative during the detainment but remained silent to the investigators.
Aldrich has been charged of five counts of a bias-motivated crime and another five counts of first-degree murder. Not much to learn yet about his motivation, but his background and identity has been revealed.
Recent reports revealed that his biological father is a light heavyweight mixed martial artist Aaron Brink. Brink started competing in professional MMA 1998. He competed once in the UFC in 2000 at UFC 28, where he faced former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski (who is still active to date) and lost via submission in the first round.
The 48-year-old continued to compete in other promotions such as King of The Cage, World Extreme Cagefighting, and Rings USA. His latest bout was in 2019 within California Cage Wars. He hasn’t been competing since then with the current records consisting of 29 wins and 27 losses.
Aaron Brinks also starred in several adult films. He made his debut in 2002 and was featured in a at least 4 adult films. In 2016 he had legal issues stemming from the time he allegedly attempted burglary with his friend all while under the influence.
The name change petition, obtained by the Denver Gazette, and written by Aldrich’s maternal grandmother Pamela Pullen, reads, “minor wishes to protect himself and his future from any connections to birth father and his criminal history. Father has had no contact with minor for several years.”
