A gym prank from the Australian comedy group Misfit Minds has become the latest flashpoint in an old argument about anabolic roid use and short fuses. The clip shows a creator walking up to bodybuilders mid-lift and correcting their form with exaggerated confidence.
One encounter with a very large man goes from awkward to confrontational in seconds.
The TikToker remains calm while the bodybuilder voice raised, tells him to back away. In the middle of the exchange, the creator tells the bodybuilder that his size is “water weight from creatine.”
The bodybuilder gets angry and rages, saying, “Stop talking to me when I’m working out, you got that?”
The video sparked a divided reaction online, although many commenters pointed to the familiar stereotype of roid users being quick to anger. Some argued that the issue was not weightlifting itself, but the potential psychological effects of PEDs. Others shared personal experiences of people using testosterone or other hormones becoming unusually irritable or reacting aggressively to minor inconveniences.
Several commenters claimed they had encountered people using PEDs who were generally friendly but prone to sudden, disproportionate outbursts. For them, the distinction was between the temperament of someone who lifts weights naturally and the potential mood changes associated with certain performance-enhancing substances.
However, not everyone blamed roids for the confrontation. Many viewers argued that the prankster was deliberately provoking strangers who were simply trying to work out, raising questions about filming people without their consent for social media content. From that perspective, the bodybuilder’s frustration was understandable, regardless of whether he used PEDs.
Others pushed back against the idea that muscular physiques or bodybuilding automatically indicate an aggressive personality. Some compared bodybuilders and powerlifters to metalheads, arguing that people who look intimidating can often be among the friendliest.
