UFC Shanghai was supposed to be remembered for one thing: Song Yadong flooring Umar Nurmagomedov during their bantamweight match. Instead, the finish has been overshadowed by a wild rumor and a threat that reportedly came straight from Umar’s own brother.
The trouble started when a knockout replay turned into a punchline. Within hours of the stoppage, a clip began circulating online claiming that Umar had lost more than the match when Song’s power found its mark. The idea that he’d been rushed backstage for reasons beyond the knockout itself spread fast, and content creators pounced on it before anyone had a chance to confirm whether there was anything to confirm.
One of the people who ran with it was a creator who posts under the handle koolade1, known online simply as Mike, a Chicago based personality. His video framed the story as a rough day for the extended Nurmagomedov camp, poking fun at the idea that the moment had gotten messy in the cage and suggesting the team had a lot of explaining to do.
He didn’t stop at the joke either, tagging Khabib Nurmagomedov directly and needling him about his relative’s alleged mishap.
The bit escalated in the comments. Koolade1 followed up with a jab aimed squarely at Umar’s new reputation, writing, “Just got word his new name is poomar.” That line alone pulled in thousands of likes.
Then things stopped being funny. A reply appeared under the handle usman_nurmagomedov, Umar’s brother and a reigning UFC lightweight champion in his own right.
The comment read, “You’d better watch your back from now on.”
Koolade1 wasn’t shaken. He clapped back publicly in another video, telling Usman he had it backwards and pointing to his own training credentials at Belal Muhammad’s gym as reason enough not to be intimidated. Not long after the exchange picked up steam, the comment attributed to Usman vanished.
Here’s where the story gets murkier. Nothing about the original incident has been independently confirmed. Video from inside a locker room isn’t exactly public record, and image editing in 2026 is good enough that a single frame proves very little on its own.
Attempts to verify the moment against the actual broadcast came up empty, which leaves the entire premise resting on secondhand claims rather than anything concrete.
Those claims trace back to commentator MMA Guru, a figure with a reputation for being no fan of the Dagestani contingent in the sport. His tweet, sent at 3:52 PM on August 29, laid out the allegation in detail: “Dear god I hope this lead isn’t true. But I’m hearing reports from someone who worked security outside Umar’s locker room that Umar Nurmagomedov actually poo’d his pants immediately after being KO’d by Song Yadong at UFC Shanghai. Would explain why they rushed him backstage.”
And then the floor fell out from under the whole narrative. In a previous broadcast, the same commentator admitted he had invented the allegation outright. No security contact, no locker room account, none of it holds up.
“Do we make up poo allegations? Oh my god chat, do we make up poo allegations? We have to wait a little bit before we do it. In about 5 minutes, we make up poo allegations,” he said.

That leaves fans with a strange sequence of events and very little solid ground to stand on. Whether Usman’s comment was genuine, whether it gets addressed publicly, and whether Umar himself ever responds to any of it remains to be seen.
