Joe Rogan Experience #2544 saw Rogan sit down with Modern Wisdom host Chris Williamson for a conversation that ranged from the John Lennon biography industry to Richard Nixon, before landing on a lighthearted accusation: that Williamson beat him to interviewing Hunter Biden.
“When you talked to Hunter Biden, did you do you guys talk about crack?” Rogan asked. When Williamson affirned, Rogan said, “So, I told you that I was going to do that. And then we didn’t do that and you did it.”
Williamson pushed back immediately. “I didn’t take the idea. I promise.” Rogan clarified that Williamson had known about his plans in advance. “I told you that we were going to do it.”
When Williamson asked if he should have said something, Rogan waved it off. “No. Doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter.”
Rogan explained that his own Hunter Biden plans fell through because of scheduling around a recurring bit called “Protect Our Parks,” which usually features his friend Ari Shaffir.
“We were going to do a protect our parks with Hunter Biden, but then Ari, because we thought Ari couldn’t make it, we wanted to do another protect our parks,” he noted. “And Ari was in London… And we were like, all right, Hunter Biden. And so we didn’t.” Rogan added that some of his crew felt slighted. “Some of the guys got upset like he took our idea.”
Once the joking settled, Rogan praised the actual interview Williamson landed. “Dude, I got to say, he’s so likable. It’s terrifying how likable he is.” Williamson agreed, adding that Hunter Biden discussed his history with dr*gs at length.
That led Rogan and Williamson into a much more serious discussion about the controversy surrounding Hunter Biden’s laptop and the origins of the data that eventually became public.
Rogan questioned whether the material actually came from a physical laptop or whether Hunter Biden’s cloud account had been compromised and the data was subsequently placed onto a laptop.
“Is the laptop real or is it really they hacked into his cloud and then they put it on a laptop? Because I’ve heard him say that there’s way too much data for it to have ever been on a laptop,” Rogan said.
Williamson responded by emphasizing the sheer volume of material involved.
“It was two decades ago. It was everything. Every text message, every photo. So you get in through the laptop.”
Rogan then laid out the theory he had heard from Hunter Biden himself, questioning whether the material had actually been obtained from the cloud rather than from a laptop left at a repair shop.
“Is his position that they hacked into his cloud and that’s how they got all those videos of him like smoking crack and going 170 mph and getting foot jobs and all that stuff like that. That all was in the cloud, that wasn’t on a laptop that he just handed to a repair store. That’s a bulls**t narrative to cover for the fact that they hacked into his cloud and got all of his photos and videos.”
The discussion also touched on Hunter Biden’s changing explanations of what happened to his data. Rogan referenced a 2021 CBS interview in which Hunter floated several possibilities, including Russian involvement, before pointing to a more recent 2026 conversation with Tucker Carlson.
During that discussion, Hunter Biden claimed that “they hacked my cloud” and argued that the sheer amount of material involved made it difficult to believe it could have all originated from a single laptop.
Rogan remained skeptical of that argument, pointing out that modern laptops can hold significant amounts of data. “There’s two terabyte hard drives on laptops now,” he noted.
From there, the conversation broadened into the political fallout surrounding the laptop story, including the controversy over its suppression on social media in the weeks leading up to the 2020 presidential election.
