Regina Tarín is a rising MMA prospect from MMA with an undefeated record. She has quickly earned attention as one of the country’s most promising young fighters.
With momentum on her side, many fans believed her next logical step was a push toward the UFC. Just as her MMA career seemed ready to break into the global spotlight, Tarín announced that she had been invited to try out for WWE.
Tarín recently talked about the unexpected opportunity, explaining how the wrestling entertainment giant reached out to her directly through social media.
“I received the invitation directly; they contacted me through Instagram,” Tarín explained. “The person who recruits new WWE talent contacted me. And at first I didn’t believe it, I said, ‘This is fake.’ But no, in the end it was real.”
The 23-year-old emphasized that despite this new opportunity, her focus remains on mixed martial arts. “The truth is that my priority is MMA and I’ve said that in several comments already,” she stated. However, she sees potential in combining both careers if she passes the WWE tryouts.
What makes this situation unique is that Tarín has secured approval from both organizations to potentially compete in each sport simultaneously. “I spoke with both companies about this, and they told me, ‘Look, as long as you meet the requirements for each sport, everything’s great,'” she revealed.
The WWE tryouts involve rigorous physical conditioning tests and showmanship evaluations. While participants cannot film inside the facilities, Tarín promised to keep fans updated through her social media channels about her progress throughout the week-long process.
Her interest in WWE stems from childhood. “When I was little, I loved watching WWE. Before I got into MMA, I would say, ‘Oh, I want to do that!'” Tarín admitted. Her background in communications studies and current pursuit of an international business degree at Anahuac University in Mexico have prepared her for the entertainment aspects of professional wrestling.
“I really like all this showmanship stuff,” she said. “In fact, people have asked me, ‘What would you be if you weren’t a fighter?’ And I always say maybe an actress or something like that because I really enjoy it.”
Despite exploring WWE opportunities, Tarín remains committed to her MMA ambitions. “This year I’m sure I’m going to keep working to get into the UFC. I’ve declared it, and believe me, I’m going to do it,” she confidently stated.
Representing Mexico on the international stage holds special significance for Tarín. “My goal is to make my country proud. I am 100% Mexican,” she emphasized, addressing those who questioned her heritage.
Tarín acknowledged mixed reactions to her decision but remains unbothered. “I try to take advantage of everything, not to miss out on anything in this life,” Tarín concluded, determined to excel in whatever path she chooses.
