Yikes! Former UFC champion Tim Sylvia set to compete in a Slap competition

If you needed any more proof UFC has a horrible pay mode, 5x UFC champion Tim Sylvia is now opting in to compete in slap competitions.

Sylvia is 47 years old and has retired from MMA 10 years ago after a string of losses.

SlapFIGHT Championship  has declared its 25th pro slapping event. SlapFIGHT 25 will take place on Saturday, April 22 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia, a five-time UFC heavyweight champion, is set to compete in SlapFIGHT, becoming the first former MMA legend to participate in this new and controversial combat sport.

Sylvia will face off against “Bulldozer,” a super heavyweight contender who has a record of 1-0 in SlapFIGHT.

“We are thrilled to announce the debut of Tim Sylvia in SlapFIGHT,” said CEO J.T. Tilley.

“Tim has been a guest cornerman during our previous underground events, and he has become captivated by the excitement of the sport. He has signed a multi-fight contract with SFC, and we look forward to seeing him in competition on April 22.”

This isn’t to be confused with Dana White’s sad attempt at a slap competition though he probably played a role having used his connections to push through slap with several state athletic commissions.

And considering a meme of White he posted back in January it’s unlikely he’ll get the nod to compete at a $2000 to show, $2000 to win ‘league’.
