When Khabib slammed invite to coach TUF against Conor McGregor: ‘Even if they give me $5 billion – I would never do this’

The possibility of Conor McGregor returning to The Ultimate Fighter as a coach has sparked talk of a number of prospective opponents for the Irishman.

Despite the fact that Conor McGregor will undoubtedly have opponents, there is one person who is certainly not be available.

Days before UFC 254, Khabib Nurmagomedov discussed his thoughts on coaching TUF against the Irishman in an interview.

The Dagestani was heard denying the possibility of joining The Ultimate Fighter to coach against McGregor, even for a ridiculous sum of money.

In a conversation with Brett Okamoto on October 13, 2020, Nurmagomedov provided further details about his choice to decline the TUF offer.

Khabib’s comments more accurately reflected his distaste for McGregor than anything else. Nurmagomedov evidently felt that being paired with McGregor as a coach would just give McGregor unwanted attention.

Khabib said: “This ultimate fighter with him, this is good attention for him. I don’t wanna give him this. I never give him this.”

The Dagestani further said that no amount of money would be able to convince him to change his mind.

“Even if they give me 5 billion dollar, even they give me UFC, I never do this. This is good attention for him. Everything is done. October 6th, I finish him and I finish everything about him.”

According to McGregor’s Instagram post, he could take part in the next TUF season. McGregor mentioned a coaching offer without providing a time frame. This may be big news but there has not been any official confirmation yet.

Tony Ferguson revealed there’s interest in having him coach TUF season against McGregor. This is a surprise, many expected Michael Chandler to be the first pick to coach against McGregor.
