“What kind of a gangster uses a towel?” – Chael Sonnen goes on a wild tirade targeting Masvidal’s beach towel

There are not many people who can beat Chael Sonnen when it comes to trash talking. The so called American Gangster recently targeted Jorge Masvidal for a very unlikely reason.

Jorge Masvidal recently posted a picture on Twitter, and Chael Sonnen wasn’t thrilled with the text. On the social media site, Masvidal posted a picture of himself holding a surfboard.

Jorge Masvidal wrote: “Life’s a beach ….. Don’t forget your towel 🌊🏄🏽‍♂️🌴 #youngla”

Sonnen mocked Masvidal for using a towel in a brief video that was posted on his YouTube account. He said that using a towel is inappropriate for a gangster before asserting that he hasn’t done it since 1999.

Sonnen also mocked the first part of Masvidal’s caption, “life’s a beach”. He said:

“What? Life’s a beach? First off, no, no, it’s not. Actually not true at all. It’s the opposite of truth. Don’t forget your towel? What kind of a gangster uses a towel? I gave up a towel in 1999. I have not used a towel since 1999 because I’m too godda*n macho for them.”

Jorge Masvidal is on a tail end of a pretty big losing streak at welterweight. Ever since he became a sensation with that unlikely KO over Ben Askren he’s been picking and choosing his opponents and artificially maintaining himself at the top of the welterweight division.

Masvidal has angled to meet Edwards and McGregor at various times but is bound to stay away from any up and comers in the division including Chimaev.

Online speculations and rumors suggest that it is quite possible that Masvidal will face Gilbert Burns in his next UFC outing.

Masvidal also has criminal charges pending stemming from his self admitted attack on Colby Covington in Florida some months back.

Masvidal has lost his last three matches. In March of this year, the 37-year-old lost his most recent bout against Colby Covington by a majority decision at UFC 272. Through 2020–21, Masvidal had previously lost back-to-back championship matches against former champion Kamaru Usman. He defeated Nate Diaz in the octagon for his most recent victory in late 2019.

Gilbert Burns has a record of 1-2 in his previous three and is coming off a tough unanimous decision defeat to Khamzat Chimaev.
