An evening in Montenegro took an unexpected turn when extreme weather conditions forced the cancellation of a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship event, leaving spectators and participants scrambling for safety.
The outdoor event at Top Hill Open Air nightclub in Budva began promisingly but quickly deteriorated as severe weather moved into the area. What started as a delayed start due to heavy rainfall escalated into a dangerous situation that organizers could no longer ignore.
BKFC co-owner Conor McGregor, who was present at the venue, witnessed the chaos firsthand and later shared his experience through social media. “Budva brought the thunder, baby,” McGregor said in a now-deleted Instagram video. “That was the maddest thing ever. Oh my God.”
The Irish icon described the terrifying moments as conditions rapidly worsened around the venue. “I’m sitting there, the thing [venue] starts rumbling and shaking, and I wasn’t waiting… I know this ain’t safe. I am in this ring, Montenegro local, big KO finish,” he recalled.
The situation became increasingly perilous as the storm intensified with little warning. “We’re in the ring about to celebrate, and the storm just erupted out of nowhere. Mother nature… I got out of there; the heavens were roaring,” McGregor explained.
Video footage captured the harrowing moments when the event was abruptly halted, showing people rushing toward exits as scaffolding began collapsing around them. The dramatic scenes revealed the severity of the weather conditions, with debris falling and creating dangerous circumstances for everyone present.
The structural damage appeared significant, with some equipment potentially striking crew members. Camera footage showed multiple individuals on the ground as the chaos unfolded, highlighting the serious nature of the emergency situation.
Before the weather emergency forced the cancellation, the evening had featured competitive action. Germany’s Dominik Estorer successfully defeated Damjan Savanovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, providing one of the night’s completed contests before nature intervened.
Two scheduled bouts that were unable to take place – Petar Razov versus Bojan Kosednar and Vaso Bakocevic versus Wilhelm Ott – are expected to be rescheduled for future events, though no specific dates have been announced.
The organization issued an official statement addressing the unprecedented circumstances: “Due to extreme inclement weather, BKFC Event Night Budva from Budva, Montenegro will air via tape delay at a later, to-be-determined date on The BKFC App. BKFC will make a formal announcement when the event is available to our fans.”

While nine contests were completed before the emergency cancellation, the footage from these bouts remains unavailable to viewers, though some clips have appeared on various social media platforms.
