(Video) When UFC’s Carlos Condit knocked out a special forces soldier in sparring

In MMA, Carlos Condit is renowned for his ability to KO opponents. Yet one of his most interesting knockouts occurred outside the MMA world.

UFC stars BJ Penn, Urijah Faber, Michael Bisping, and Carlos Condit visited US soldiers in Afghanistan in June 2008. The athletes thanked the troops for their service, and saw the military in action. The UFC veterans also gave the troops some MMA advice.

Carlos Condit was involved in a challenging sparring match during one of the training sessions with the troops. Condit and a US Special Forces soldier agreed to spar in a boxing ring at a US military installation.

The soldier questioned Carlos Condit about how hard he would like to spar. Condit answered, saying:

“It’s up to you, man. Hit me as hard as you want to get hit.”

The soldier struck Carlos Condit in the head by a strong right fist. He began the sparring session by aggressively chasing Condit. However, Condit maintained his composure and continued to escape the punches.

Condit then began striking the soldier with precise counterpunches. The UFC veteran then launched a devastating combination and struck the soldier in the head with a powerful high kick. Condit then delivered a right hand in response, dropping the soldier. He was then unable to continue.

Carlos Condit has retired from mixed martial arts, as reported by ESPN. In his last, the former interim UFC welterweight champion lost to Max Griffin through a majority decision at UFC 264 in July 2021.

Carlos Condit participated in 46 professional mixed martial arts throughout his career. He retired with a stellar record of 32 wins and 14 defeats. Condit is recognized by many as one of the most thrilling combatants in MMA history.
