Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jędrzejczyk started up in the same circuit. The two were prominent kickboxers prior to their respective impressive runs in the UFC.
The two even faced each other in the co main event of UFC 231 back in 2018 with Shevchenko edging out a victory following five 5-minute rounds.
Shevchenko defeated the smaller Jędrzejczyk a total of 3 times – 2 times in Muay thai during the time they both spent active.
Their first fight took place in the quarterfinals (57 kg) of the I.M.F.A World Championship Tournament 2006.
Shevchenko was victorious via decision.
In their second bout in 2008, Shevchenko also came out on top via decision.
Shevchenko was visibly emotional about Joanna Jędrzejczyk ‘s retirement announcement and the two hugged it out back stage.
Jędrzejczyk touched the hearts of many fans with her genuine approach and being gracious even in the knock out loss to Zhang Weili.
