(Video) Umar Nurmagomedov claims he is “MORE GEORGIAN” than Merab Dvalishvili

UFC bantamweight contender Umar Nurmagomedov has taken aim at champion Merab Dvalishvili, questioning his Georgian authenticity and claiming to embody Georgian values more genuinely than the Tbilisi native himself.

Speaking candidly, Nurmagomedov expressed his views on Dvalishvili’s representation of Georgian culture, suggesting that many in the sport share his perspective.

“A lot of guys don’t care about Merab and they don’t think he’s a man,” Nurmagomedov stated. “Even me, I think I’m more Georgian and a man more than him.”

The Dagestan-born star elaborated on his critique, specifically targeting what he perceives as superficial displays of Georgian heritage by Dvalishvili. “If we will look at how he follow Georgian traditional, how he follow like his country traditional… he represent his country with tattoo and with black papaha, and what about else?” Nurmagomedov questioned.

Nurmagomedov went further to challenge Dvalishvili’s authenticity beyond public appearances, asking, “What about life outside the doors, you know what he doing?” He concluded by asserting his belief that he serves as a superior role model compared to Dvalishvili.

This unexpected cultural critique adds another layer to the already complex dynamics within the UFC’s bantamweight division, where both fighters are pursuing championship aspirations.
