(Video) UFC legend Wanderlei Silva celebrates son’s MMA debut with first-round knockout

Wanderlei Silva’s son Thor has his sights set on MMA success. The 19-year-old dominated his opponent with a first-round TKO on Sunday. This was his amateur MMA debut.

Silva’s son defeated Gabriel Bonfim in the FightMusic Show 2 at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil. One of the highlights of the main event program was Silva, who competed in the bantamweight class.

When Thor mounted his opponent and began unleashing savage ground and pound blows, the referee declared the bout over. The 19-year-old is seen in the video sprinting towards his winning corner, which also featured his MMA veteran father.

It’s interesting to note that Thor Silva has participated in combat sports before. The adolescent competed against Gabriel Ferreira in amateur kickboxing earlier this month.

The kickboxing match featured Thor Silva, who competed under the MAXFIGHT brand. The 132-pound contest was won by unanimous decision for the 19-year-old.

The Brazilian hasn’t competed in a professional match as of yet. However, based on how his career is developing, it won’t be long until he makes the switch.

Thor Silva discussed what it was like to be the son of Wanderlei Silva in a 2021 interview with Sherdog. The Brazilian said that since his father really inspires him, it was nice to live with him.

Thor Silva noted:

“He motivates me a lot. I always like training with him. I learn new things all the time. Especially because of his character, which [is like] always going, you know, always getting one in, you know, getting hits.”

Later in the interview, he said that his father’s last UFC bout was his favorite. At UFC on Fuel TV 8, Wanderlei Silva defeated Brian Stann by knockout in the second round to win his last UFC contest.
