(Video) UFC fans fall for hoax about Cyril Gane reacting to Jon Jones arrest video

Jon Jones has a checkered past. While his MMA credentials are rock solid – his criminal record is not.

On April 27, 2015, Jones was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jones was accused of running a red light and crashing his rental car into two other vehicles, leaving an injured pregnant woman behind.

Witnesses stated that Jones fled the scene of the accident on foot, only to return shortly afterward to grab cash from the vehicle before fleeing again.

After an arrest warrant was issued, Jones turned himself in and posted bail of $2,500. The UFC stripped Jones of his title and suspended him indefinitely, citing violations of the Athlete Code of Conduct Policy. Jones later pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and was sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation, including 72 separate appearances for charity or youth outreach.

On September 24, 2021, police were called to the Caesars Palace resort hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, in response to a domestic incident involving Jones and his fiancée, Jessie Moses. When police arrived, they observed Moses with blood on her face and clothing, claiming that Jones had pulled her hair. Jones was detained and charged with one count of domestic battery and one count of tampering with a police vehicle. His bail was set at $16,000.

Moses reportedly withdrew her statement. On March 31, it was announced that Jones had pleaded guilty to the DWI charge, after accepting a plea deal in which the other charges would be dropped. He was sentenced to four days house arrest, one year of supervised probation, a minimum of 90 days of outpatient therapy.

In lead up to UFC 285, UFC typically has athletes partake in various media interviews and promotional activities. As a part of one they had Cyril Gane react to footage.

But while UFC didn’t dare shine a spotlight on Jon Jones’ arrest video during which he weeps like a baby clearly out of it, a fan rendered a mix of the two and fooled a lot of fans into thinking it was real.

“The UFC is wild for making Gane react to this’ – one fan remarked.

“‘Good uses me as a vessel to test my wife’- Jon Jones probably” Another fan added

“That’s what Jones gets for s****ing on FIFA. The internet has its revenge.” – another concluded.
