(Video) Tim Johnson’s PFL Debut Turns into Double Knockdown Spectacle

In the unpredictable world of mixed martial arts, unusual events are not uncommon. Such was the case at PFL 4 on Thursday night, where a bizarre double knockdown occurred during a heavyweight bout. Former UFC and Bellator star Tim Johnson made his Professional Fighters League  debut against Danilo Marques, seeking a playoff spot at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.

Early in the fight, Johnson endured significant pain from a liver shot. However, around the two-minute mark, Johnson threw a powerful overhand left that connected perfectly, sending Marques to the canvas and appearing close to being knocked out. Simultaneously, Johnson received a low blow, resulting in an unusual double knockdown where both fighters were left struggling in different ways.

The impact of Johnson’s punch was so intense that Marques, upon getting back on his feet, seemed to believe he had legitimately knocked Johnson down and anticipated being declared the winner. However, this was not the case. When the fight resumed, Johnson quickly regained his momentum and continued his assault, ultimately securing a knockout victory within the first round, earning a six-point finish.

The main event of PFL 4 was set to feature a heavyweight clash between Valentin Moldavsky and Linton Vassell, with the playoff brackets for the women’s flyweight division also being decided.

The fight between Johnson and Marques added another chapter to the long list of bizarre and memorable moments in MMA history, showcasing the sport’s unpredictability and the dramatic turns a fight can take in just a few seconds.
