(Video) Russian TUF founder grapples Jon Jones

The president of a Russian MMA promotion ALF reality series found himself on the receiving end of Jon Jones’ legendary grappling skills after attempting to take down the UFC heavyweight champion.

The amusing encounter, captured on video during filming of a Russian version of TUF reality show, shows the promotion’s president making a surprise move toward Jones. The impromptu grappling session lasted only seconds before Jones effortlessly defended himself, leading to laughter from those present.

“Oh! Oh!” exclaimed onlookers as the brief exchange unfolded, with Jones maintaining his composure throughout the unexpected challenge.

The incident occurred during Jones’ recent coaching stint in Thailand, where he worked opposite UFC star Nate Diaz for the Russian reality show. While Diaz and his team eventually left the production following reported tensions on set, Jones continued with his coaching role.

Speaking about his experience on the show, Jones expressed respect for his fellow coach: “I don’t look at it as a rivalry. I’m honored to be here with Nate Diaz. I’ve always been a fan of Nate Diaz. He’s an absolute legend in the sport. Him and his brother are legends.”

Jones further explained his approach to coaching: “The way I look at it is, I’m coming out here to try to motivate the boys, to inspire the boys, try to teach them something new, and just share with the guys. Ultimately, whether one of my guys wins or Nate’s guys win, I feel like we all win, because we get to know each other, we get to be together, and share something that we all enjoy.”

The 37-year-old UFC heavyweight champion has been making headlines recently for other reasons as well, including subtle criticism of former roommate and UFC fighter Colby Covington. In an interview with DeepCut podcast, Jones referred to an unnamed fighter with the initials “C.C.” as “the most overrated fighter in the UFC” and “a total douchebag.”

Jones and Covington were once roommates at Iowa Central Community College before their relationship reportedly deteriorated after both achieved success in the UFC.
