In a display of officiating negligence, referee Jing Junti has come under intense criticism following a troubling sequence during BRAVE CF 93 in Zhengzhou, Henan, China.
The bout between Rabindra Dhant and Eqiyuebu “The Magician” took a disturbing turn when Dhant managed to ground his opponent and unleash a relentless barrage of strikes. What followed was nothing short of alarming as the referee allowed the action to continue far beyond what many observers deemed appropriate.
Cageside commentary captured the mounting concern in real-time: “These are huge shots. Referee… this is not intelligent defense! I think he’s out. Referee whenever you’re ready! REFEREE WHEN YOU’RE READY!”
As Dhant continued landing undefended blows on his clearly compromised opponent, the commentator’s tone shifted from concern to outrage: “My god… referee wanted to see a dead body here tonight. I know decisions are made in the heat of the moment but come on. Five or six shots there completely unnecessary.”
The video of the incident shows Dhant landing approximately 30 unanswered strikes while Eqiyuebu offered no meaningful defense, raising serious questions about athlete safety protocols and referee competence at the event.
Fortunately, despite the excessive punishment, reports indicate Eqiyuebu was able to exit the cage under his own power. Dhant improved his professional record to 8-1 with the second-round stoppage, while Eqiyuebu’s record fell to 8-3.
This adds to ongoing conversations about officiating standards in combat sports, particularly in international competitions where regulatory oversight may vary significantly from region to region.
