In an unprecedented move at FAME MMA 23, Polish promotion FAME MMA implemented a unique consequence for Alan Kwieciński after he significantly missed weight for his scheduled bout against Amadeusz Ferrari.
Rather than canceling the match entirely, FAME presented Kwieciński with an unusual ultimatum: face both his opponent Amadeusz Ferrari and Ferrari’s father, Dariusz Rośnik, in a two-on-one handicap match.
The situation unfolded after Kwieciński’s weight miss at the morning weigh-ins. FAME officials, in an innovative approach to weight management enforcement, offered him two choices – either withdraw from the event entirely or accept the challenge of competing against both Ferraris simultaneously.
In what became the talk of Polish social media, Kwieciński accepted the unconventional stipulation. However, his confidence proved misplaced as the evening took an unexpected turn. During the main event, it was actually Ferrari’s father, Dariusz Rośnik, who secured the victory by submitting Kwieciński in the first round.
The commentary team captured the dramatic moment, noting Kwieciński’s unsuccessful attempts to defend against the elder Rośnik’s grappling expertise. “Will Alan get up? He tries to get up, but it’s not easy,” the commentators observed during the finishing sequence.
The event, which was broadcast live on FAMEMMA.TV, has since garnered significant attention in the combat sports community, setting a new precedent for weight miss penalties in professional competition. The outcome served as a reminder of the importance of making weight and the creative consequences that promotions might employ to address such infractions.
