A video has gone viral on social media showing an incident between two passengers on a Southwest Airlines flight. The incident occurred during a journey from Dallas to Phoenix on Monday, and footage shows a father confronting another passenger in front of his children.
The video shows the man, wearing a beige blazer, placing the heavily tattooed passenger in a headlock and repeatedly shouting expletives at him.
Several passengers tried to intervene, but the attacker continued to hurl abuse and even punched the victim after the situation had initially calmed down.
According to witnesses, the victim had done nothing wrong and was the subject of an unprovoked attack. Onlookers tried to diffuse the situation, but the attacker accused the victim of “aggressively” confronting his family.
The attacker, who was traveling with his wife and children, later defended his actions by stating that he would “die for his family” and was willing to go to jail to protect them.
Dallas police confirmed they responded to the incident, but no arrests were made. Southwest Airlines declined to provide additional details about the incident.
This incident is the latest in a string of violent incidents on American flights. Recently, a passenger was charged for trying to open a window mid-flight and threatening everyone on a United Airlines journey.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of air travel, and airlines have come under scrutiny for their handling of these types of incidents.
