(Video) One-Armed MMA Fighter Lands Picture-Perfect KO

When hearing about a one-armed MMA fighter, the former WSOF title challenger must have come to mind for most people.

But far south in a regional Brazil MMA promotion Demo Fight, another one-armed fighter named Marney Maxx is making a noise as well.

In a lightweight contest at Demo Fight 11, Maxx is facing a winless opponent Deivid ‘Alemão’ Costa, which was 0-2 leading into the bout.

The fight started competitively with Maxx landing a lot of disturbing leg kicks towards Costa, which he returns fire with his own counterattacks.

But two minutes into the fight, Maxx saw a hole in Costa’s guard and throw a roundhouse kick that landed perfectly on Costa’s chin, leaving him knocked out cold.

That picture-perfect head kick knockout was uploaded by a Brazilian Twitter user @Barrelepierna.

“Despite missing a hand, Marney Maxx managed to get a nice KO yesterday at Demo Fight 11,” wrote @Barrelelapierna on the caption.

After this victory, Maxx improved his record to 4-4 while Costa fell to 0-3.

Maxx’s career has met its ups and downs, having two fights losing streak on his first two fights before picking up a KO/TKO win over Ivanizio Moura.

Besides Maxx, the other one-armed fighter is the aforementioned Nick Newell. Just like Maxx, Newell also fought without his left hand.

A veteran of 20 fights, Newell had fought in various promotions throughout his career, from Xtreme Fighting Championships, World Series of Fighting, and Bellator. He once tried his luck in the UFC by participating in Dana White’s Contender Series 14 but lost to Alex Munoz by unanimous decision in his first appearance.

The 35-years old lightweight fighter last fought at Bellator 260 on June 2021 against Bobby King where he lost by split decision.

Newell also had several notable achievements in his career. Winner of 2013 WSOF Submission of the Year and once held the XFC lightweight championship to name a few.
