UFC 281 has an action packed prelim. The very last bout on the prelims was another exciting event – this time featuring fan favorites Brad Riddell and Renato Moicano.
Riddell went into UFC 281 having lost two straight – to Rafael Fiziev via spinning wheel kick, and to Jalin Turner via guillotine.
Moicano also had a lot to prove heading into UFC 281. His last outing was a one sided loss to Rafael Dos Anjos.
Moicano opened round 1 with a jab. Moicano pressed forward early on and didn’t let Riddell get his momentum going.
Moicano had the advantage in grappling going into the event but he also delivered quite a barrage at Riddell early. Riddell’s face was bloodied up with blood pouring down his nose from a cut under his eye.

Moicano’s jab was the winning combo of the night. Moicano would soon scramble to the back of Riddell and slap on a body triangle leaving himself a lot of room to work on getting the choke. Moments later he locked in a rear naked choke and delivered a finish.
Official Result: Renato Moicano def. Brad Riddell by submission (rear-naked choke), Round 1, 3:20

Moicano delivered an epic speech afterwards – much of it was censored by ESPN.
“I don’t know if you know me, but I was ranked at number five, featherweight. I was the best, by the way, in the play. And I lost to my Jose Aldo. But I lost to him. It was really bad for my career. But I move up. I learn from my mistakes. Then I’m my f**king here to take.”
“Over this others motherf**kers. I’m here to take over. Make no mistake, I lost all it took at best. But today I was in front of the best.|
