(Video) McGregor had a funny run in with Mayweather Sr backstage at boxing event

Conor McGregor was spotted at the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia card last weekend at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The card drew some of the biggest names in the sport, including McGregor, who showed up to support Garcia.

During the backstage activities, McGregor had a chat with Garcia in his dressing room, where he offered his support and called for a rematch between the two without the rehydration clause. McGregor also expressed his admiration for Garcia, saying he’s the future of the sport.

While at the event, McGregor also bumped into Floyd Mayweather Sr, a veteran boxing coach. The two had a funny conversation, with McGregor even showing off his hands during the chat.

McGregor’s appearance at the card comes after his crushing defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. However, he is set to return to the Octagon this year and take on Michael Chandler, after coaching against him on the upcoming season of TUF.

One of the most exciting aspects of this upcoming return is the fact that McGregor will be stepping into the welterweight division. This is a significant change for the Irish star, who has previously competed in the featherweight and lightweight divisions. McGregor’s move up in weight class could prove to be an advantage, as he will be able to use his size and strength to his advantage against Chandler.

While McGregor has been busy getting back into shape, Michael Chandler has been bulking up in preparation for this. The American has been putting in the work to ensure that he will be able to match McGregor’s size and strength in the octagon.

Chandler is no stranger to the welterweight division, having previously competed in the weight class during his time in Bellator MMA.

Despite the anticipation surrounding this event, an official date for the McGregor vs Chandler bout has yet to be announced. McGregor fueled rumors while backstage that a bout could take place at the end of the summer in 2023. This would give both ample time to prepare and build up hype for what is sure to be a highly anticipated matchup.

But McGregor appears to be absent from the USADA pool still so it’s unclear if that’s just wishful thinking out of McGregor.
