(Video) MMA pro goes out on his shield, swinging into invisible opponent reminiscent of Brendan Schaub

Bellator 292 was a rather exciting card featuring some of the promotions biggest stars including champion Usman Nurmagomedov, Benson Henderson, Michael Venom Page and more.

But even despite all that star power, several of the other contests managed to capture the imaginations of the MMA fanbase.

One of those was an impressive RNC submission win Laird Anderson pulled off over Rogelio Luna.

Laird Anderson is a 24 year old featherweight training out of Fortis MMA. He was 3-0 heading into the event. All of Anderson’s professional MMA outings took place in Bellator. He made his debut in 2018. And then after a long break, competed twice in 2022.

Luna had a single win on his professional MMA record heading into Bellator 292.

He hot his back taken mid way through the first round at which point Anderson had a lot of time to work. Luna initially tried getting up however Anderson reacted and managed to get his hooks in, grounding them both. At this point there was very little Luna could do considering the arm was already under the neck.

Luna could briefly be seen shadow boxing as he starts to go out. This is reminiscent to something that’s happened in UFC previously.

Holly Holm famously went out similarly swinging during her 5th round loss to Miesha Tate.

Brendan Schaub also had a similar moment during a ground and pound exchange when he was mounted and dominated by Ben Rothwell.
