Former UFC star Julie Kedzie shared a remarkable story on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast about an unexpected incident that occurred during her 2007 bout in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Kedzie revealed that she experienced an embarrassing accident between rounds after a cornerman poured cold water on her neck. “I thought that I just farted… turns out, I had no idea of this,” she explained to a stunned Joe Rogan.
The situation became even more extraordinary when, still in her competition attire and unable to shower, Kedzie was transported by bus to a luxurious palace alongside other victorious competitors. There, she encountered action movie star Jean-Claude Van Damme while dealing with her uncomfortable predicament.
“I end up going to the restroom and there’s just s**t caked all over,” Kedzie recounted. “There’s no trash can. It’s all silk and gold in this beautiful palace, so I just take my panties off and roll them up and shove them behind the toilet.”
The evening took another unexpected turn when former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi approached her through a translator. “He was like, ‘Hey, can I be your boyfriend tonight?’ And I’m like, ‘I smell like s**t,'” she said.
The culmination of this unusual series of events was her encounter with Vladimir Putin, who was between presidential terms at the time. “Putin comes and puts his arm around me and I’m like, ‘This is weird as hell,'” Kedzie shared.
Looking back on the experience, Kedzie concluded, “I s**t myself in front of foreign dignitaries in another country. And that’s probably my favorite MMA story.”
The 43-year-old athlete, who finished her career with a 16-13 record, had two UFC appearances in 2013, both resulting in split decision losses.
