(Video) Jiri Prochazka swims 30 meters under the ice in frozen lake

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka has once again captured the attention of combat sports fans with his extraordinary training regimen, this time by swimming 30 meters beneath the ice of a frozen lake.

The Czech athlete, known for embracing unconventional and challenging activities, shared the remarkable feat on his YouTube channel. In the video, Prochazka can be seen submerging himself in the frigid waters and swimming the full distance under the frozen surface.

“I really want to swim 30 meters underwater,” Prochazka says in his native language at the beginning of the footage. After completing the challenging swim, he confirms his success, asking, “Was it 30?” with a companion confirming, “Yes.”

This latest demonstration of Prochazka’s unique approach to physical and mental conditioning aligns with his well-documented philosophy. The fighter has frequently spoken about seeking out difficult challenges as a way to motivate himself and build mental fortitude.

The video quickly circulated on social media platforms, drawing numerous reactions from fans and fellow athletes. One impressed viewer commented, “I love this maniac,” while another noted, “That’s impressive, ice plunge is one thing but your head under water is a different kind of cold.”

Many commenters also expressed concern about the inherent dangers of such an activity, with one stating, “Jiri is an insane person. This is incredibly dangerous.”

Prochazka is coming off a decisive technical knockout victory over Jamahal Hill at UFC 311. While his next opponent remains unannounced, rising middleweight Zhang Mingyang recently expressed interest in facing the former champion.

“Next fight, I want Jiri Prochazka,” Zhang stated in a backstage interview following his victory at UFC Kansas City. “I watched your fight in Singapore, and you won your battle in that fight. I like your style. I respect your warrior spirit. Now, although you are not champion anymore but I would like to fight you, to test myself.”

Prochazka previously isolated himself for days in dark, had mexican fire ants bite him and rubbed himself with nettle.
