Jake Paul has once again taken aim at UFC star Conor McGregor, mocking the Irish star’s recent behavior and claiming he’s eager for a matchup.
The YouTube sensation turned boxer, who is set to face Mike Tyson in a highly anticipated bout this November in Texas, took to social media to share his thoughts on McGregor. In a video posted on Twitter, Paul sarcastically commented on McGregor’s recent actions, suggesting they were worthy of academic study.
Not content with just poking fun, Paul followed up with a bold statement: “And for the record I would defeat this guy in the ring or in the cage. Keep asking for your date hahaha.” The 26-year-old seems confident in his abilities against the former two-division UFC champion, despite their differing backgrounds in combat sports.
While Paul prepares for his showdown with Tyson, McGregor’s immediate future in competition remains uncertain. The Irishman was originally slated to face Michael Chandler but had to withdraw due to a toe injury. McGregor has since confirmed he won’t return to action until 2025, citing Chandler’s newly scheduled bout against Charles Oliveira as a factor.
“My job is just to go to the gym, be in the gym, be in shape and one thing is for sure, whenever it is and wherever it is, I will be 100 percent ready. That’s all I can focus on right now,” McGregor stated, addressing his current situation.
The UFC star also revealed that negotiations for a potential two-fight crossover deal with boxer Terrence Crawford fell through. According to McGregor, Crawford declined the opportunity, expressing reservations about engaging in mixed martial arts.
