Charles Oliveira appeared to go into UFC 280 with the wrong game plan. Oliveira even tried pulling guard early. And Oliveira quickly moved action to closed guard but struggled to make more of it.

Makhachev managed to pull off a couple of attractive judo trips and the two clinched for quite a bit of their bout.

In round two Makhachev stunned Oliveira with a good punch and followed up on the ground. He was able to quickly capitalize with an arm triangle finish and got the tap from Oliveira.

What ensued was a slow mo hug celebration featuring longtime friend Khabib Nurmagomedov.

After the bout Makhachev and Khabib expressed desire to meet Volkanovski in Australia with the P2P and lightweight titles on the line.

Oliveira was visibly shaken yet game. There was no ill will between the two camps when all was said and done.
