UFC star Alex Pereira recently returned to his hometown in Brazil where he surprised local shoppers by paying for their groceries.
The former UFC champion was captured on video approaching unsuspecting customers at a local supermarket, offering to cover their bills at the checkout counter.
“God put you in my path to give strength to our people,” one grateful recipient told Pereira during the encounter.
The MMA star approached several shoppers with the same generous offer. “I would like to bless your purchase,” he said to one woman, who responded with visible emotion. When her total came to 855.94 Brazilian reais (approximately $165 USD), Pereira covered it without hesitation.
“What a blessing. God bless you,” the woman responded, to which Pereira humbly replied, “I will be blessing you. Thank you.”
During his visit, Pereira also connected with local children, asking one boy if he enjoyed sports or knew about martial arts. The interaction highlighted his approachability despite his global fame.
Pereira made it clear that his actions were meant to inspire others. “We’re filming this just to motivate people to have this attitude, to help others,” he explained to another shopper whose groceries he paid for.
The former champion’s generosity left many recipients overwhelmed with gratitude, with multiple shoppers repeatedly thanking him. One recipient noted, “This gives plenty to eat without struggling.”
This charitable act showcases a different side of Pereira, demonstrating his commitment to giving back to the community that shaped him before his rise to international stardom.
