The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris have been a topic of controversy, with former UFC title challenger Colby Covington at the forefront of the criticism. Covington, known for his outspoken conservative views, has been vocal about his disdain for the perceived “woke agenda” that he believes has infiltrated the prestigious sporting event.
In a scathing video posted on ‘X’, Covington unleashed his frustrations, saying, “The worst Olympic games in history have finally come to a close.” The conservative contender took issue with the opening ceremonies, which featured drag performers and what he believed was a mocking of the Christian faith.
“The opening ceremonies are supposed to be about honoring and celebrating athletes’ achievements, but instead, they use this time to shove a woke agenda down our throats, mocking the Christian faith and pushing pagan propaganda and demonic imagery. It’s disgusting and disrespectful to all the athletes that work so hard to get here,” Covington said.
But Covington’s criticism didn’t stop there. He also took aim at NBA superstar LeBron James, who was tasked with carrying the American flag during the opening ceremony. Covington didn’t hold back, saying, “When I heard that he was gonna be the one carrying his country’s flag, I thought it was gonna be for China. What happened, LeBron? Did you finally give equality and justice to all those children and women sewing your shoes? Did you bring those jobs back to the states? Or would that mess with your profit margin?”
Covington also criticized the Olympic organizers for the less-than-ideal living conditions for the athletes, stating, “You got people swimming in literal feces and s***. You got the Olympic community worth billions having these athletes sleep on cardboard boxes.”
The conservative fighter also took issue with the participation of athletes with alleged biological advantages, specifically mentioning the case of Algeria’s Imane Khelif, who won gold in women’s boxing. Covington said, “You got XY competing against XX chromosomes. Keep men outta women’s sports.”
