Heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury was seen being led out of a bar in his native Morecambe, Lancashire, on Friday night, amidst reports that he had enjoyed one too many celebratory moments. Footage emerged on social media showing the 35-year-old boxer being escorted out of Nowhere bar by two security staff, who have since been dubbed “Britain’s bravest bouncers” by fans online.
According to sources close to Fury, he had partied with friends and fans at the venue, but was asked to leave by security after they deemed him to be too intoxicated. A source revealed that “he had a couple too many and wasn’t feeling too well either.”
This incident comes just weeks after Fury suffered his first-ever professional defeat to Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed heavyweight world title fight in Saudi Arabia. Fury, who had previously held the WBC belt, saw it stripped away from him after the split decision loss.
However, Fury has since activated a rematch clause, and the pair are set to face off again on December 21. In the meantime, Fury had revealed plans to relax with his wife Paris and their seven children, enjoying some family time and indulging in his hobbies.
In his defense, DJ Scott Shearing posted on social media, “The man is a bloody legend, multimillionaire, and yet he is still just like you or me. He goes out shopping, just like you. Goes to the pub just like you… I take my hat off to him as everywhere he goes, people ask him for photos when he’s just out like everyone else to relax and unwind, and he always obliges.”
Fury has been open about his struggles with mental health in the past, including his battles with depression and addiction. In 2015, after defeating Wladimir Klitschko, Fury surrendered his belts due to personal struggles, which led to a two-year hiatus from boxing. During that time, he ballooned to 28st before shedding the excess weight and returning to the sport.
In 2021, it was reported that Fury had given up certain habits for his personal wellbeing and the good of his family. The boxer’s love for his hometown of Morecambe was also highlighted by Shearing, who called for a statue to be erected in his honor on the promenade.
Fury’s recent outing may have sparked concern among fans, but it’s clear that the heavyweight champion is still widely admired for his achievements and dedication to his craft. As one fan aptly put it, “Let’s show the man some respect for his achievements and love of Morecambe.”
