(Video) Anderson Silva’s son Kalyl wins pro boxing debut via knockout

Anderson Silva’s days as one of the greatest mixed martial artist of all time may be finished. However, his legacy continues via both of his sons, who are now moving up the combat sports ladder.

Gabriel Silva and Kalyl are both seasoned amateurs in different combat sports.

22-year-old Kalyl has now transitioned to the professional ranks in boxing. This past weekend, he defeated Paulo Roberto dos Santos Nascimento at Boxe Show 3 in Brazil to win his debut fight. Silva was there to congratulate his son on his outstanding success.

Kalyl wrote on Instagram sharing images and videos from the event.“Pro debut started off with a bang ! 4th round KO. Thank you to everyone that’s part of this journey with me. Forever thankful. On to the next!!”

Anderson congratulated him in the comments. He wrote: “Congratulations, champion pride. Strength and honor always.”

In one video, Anderson Silva can be seen bending down to kiss his kid in the middle of the ring. Kalyl then gets down on the canvas to reciprocate the gesture and then hugs him.

Kalyl Silva has a 2-1 amateur kickboxing record. He won his kickboxing debut with a flying head kick in under 8 seconds.

On the other hand, Anderson Silva suffered a discouraging decision loss against Jake Paul in boxing in his last outing. Although the early rounds of their match were tight, Paul’s determination allowed the YouTuber-turned-boxer to win the final three rounds on all three judges’ scorecards. He then knocked out Silva in the tenth round, winning by scores of 78-73, 78-73, and 77-74.

Silva is now 47 years old and well past his prime. However, he has said he plans to keep competing.

Following the defeat, he wrote: “If your dreams are small, your vision will be small, your goals will be limited, your targets will be mediocre, your road will be narrow, your ability to endure storms will be fragile. I wish that you are not afraid of life — be afraid of not living it. There is no sky without storms, and no path without setbacks.”

It’s obvious that Anderson Silva still has a great passion for martial arts in his heart since both of his boys are now training with him. He’ll keep on instructing them for the foreseeable future.
