Boxing welterweight Alexis Rocha successfully knocked out George Ashie. His eyes are now locked on Terence Crawford for the WBO welterweight belt.
Alexis Rocha and George Ashie exchanged blows within Golden Boy Promotions. The event took place in California on Saturday. Ashie stepped in on short notice to replace Anthony Young. The pair headlined the event, resulting in another win for Alexis Rocha.
Their battle was pretty fierce, but Rocha showed there was a skill gap between him and Ashie. Rocha knocked down Ashie in the third and seventh round. Ashie managed to get back on his feet and continued the battle. However, he lost the match in the end after catching a vicious right hook in the seventh round.
“It didn’t change things. You roll with the punches and keep moving forward. I have a great team, a great cutman (Cesar Campos) who handled it.” Rocha said after the battle.

With this result, Alexis Rocha is now on his 6th win streak since his loss against Rashidi Ellis in October 2020. His score has now improved to 22 wins and 1 loss. Not just that, Rocha is also eligible to challenge Terence Crawford for the WBO welterweight title. The 25-year-old has been demanding a title bout and seemingly couldn’t wait any longer.
“[Crawford] is the fight that I want next, let’s go. Everyone always asks me if I’m ready. I won’t know until I’m in there with him. I’m ready for the big names. I know whoever I fight, I’m gonna take it up every level, every step.” Rocha insisted.
Terence Crawford earned the welterweight belt after defeating Jeff Horn in June 2018. He has defended it 6 times and is currently still undefeated with a total of 39 victories. His latest appearance was in December of last year when he knocked out David Avanesyan.
