(Video) 60 year old dies as a result of fan brawl at basketball game

A large brawl that started among fans at a middle school basketball game in Vermont on Tuesday resulted in the passing of a 60-year-old man.

Just before 7 p.m. in the evening, state troopers were called to the Alburgh Community Education Center. This happened after reports came of a significant conflict involving fans watching seventh- and eighth-grade boys from Alburgh and St. Albans play basketball.

According to the police, Russel Giroux of Alburgh needed medical assistance after the brawl. After being transported to Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, Giroux passed away.

State police and the Grand Isle state’s attorney’s office are looking into Giroux’s death. An autopsy will be performed by the Vermont medical examiner’s office.

The enormous brawl was captured on camera. The video seems to show both adults and kids engaging in a conflct on the basketball court.

As minor physical conflicts break out, several parents seem to drag the kids away. The video also shows some adults on the ground clutching at each other.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon, The Grand Isle Supervisory Union stated:

“It is with a heavy heart that I write to you that there was a physical altercation between multiple adults in attendance at last night’s Middle School basketball game between Alburgh Community Education Center and St. Albans City Schools.”

“Our immediate goal is to remind and educate our students and families that our school culture is one of family, community, and kindness. We need our students and community to commit to the positive culture that our school community expects and deserves.”
