UFC fans were treated to an unexpected display of flexibility when strawweight fighter Vanessa Demopoulos brought her signature flair to the official weigh-ins for UFC Atlanta.
As Demopoulos faced off against her opponent Jamie Lynn Horne, she seized the moment to showcase her remarkable athleticism by performing a perfect split on the weigh-in stage. The impressive display caught everyone’s attention—including the camera operator who was apparently caught off guard by the sudden move.
This isn’t the first time Demopoulos has incorporated her flexibility into her UFC appearances. The former exotic dancer has become known for her post-fight celebrations, including memorable moments when she jumped into commentator Joe Rogan’s arms after submitting Silvana Gómez Juárez at UFC 270, and later recreating the celebration with Michael Bisping following her split decision victory over Jinh Yu Frey.
Demopoulos’ athletic versatility extends beyond the octagon. Earlier this year, she made headlines when she tried her hand at sumo wrestling against Egyptian wrestler Ramy Elgazar—a competitor who outweighed her by approximately 380 pounds. Despite claiming that “size doesn’t matter” in an Instagram post about the friendly exhibition, the 499-pound Elgazar playfully tossed the strawweight fighter during their lighthearted match.
“It was an honor to battle top-tier professional sumo wrestlers,” Demopoulos shared on social media following the unusual crossover experience.
Demopoulos’ UFC journey has been marked by perseverance. After an initial setback in Dana White’s Contender Series and a unanimous decision loss to JJ Aldrich in her promotional debut, she rebounded with the submission victory over Juárez at UFC 270—a win that helped secure her place in the organization.
Following her victory against Frey, Demopoulos told media about her plans to balance family time with her MMA career: “Right now, my full focus is being able to go on this vacation with my family, which I promised them for so many years now, that as soon as I made it to the UFC, I’ll go to Greece with you guys.”
With her technical skills in the cage and flair for entertainment outside it, Demopoulos continues to build her reputation as one of the more colorful personalities in the UFC’s strawweight division. Her split at the Atlanta weigh-ins is just the latest example of how she manages to captivate audiences before the action even begins.
