UFC’s Tony Ferguson Helped a Boxer by Co-Signing His Apartment and Sending Groceries

Irish boxer Callum Walsh recently revealed the heartwarming generosity of UFC legend Tony Ferguson, sharing how the MMA star provided crucial support during Walsh’s early days in Los Angeles.

Speaking at a press conference following his latest victory, Walsh disclosed that Ferguson went far beyond typical friendship by co-signing his first apartment lease in LA.

“Tony’s done a lot for me outside the ring. You know, if I didn’t have Tony, I wouldn’t have been able to get my first ever apartment in LA. You know, he cosigned for me on getting an apartment,” Walsh explained.

The assistance didn’t stop there. Ferguson regularly ensured Walsh had groceries, making it a weekly routine. “Tony’s done so much for me and he used to send me groceries. Every week he texts me, ‘Oh, go outside. I send you groceries,'” the 24-year-old boxer recalled with evident gratitude.

Walsh emphasized the depth of their friendship, noting he’s trained with Ferguson extensively. “Tony’s great, you know. I love Tony. I’ve trained with Tony for a long time. He’s one of my very good friends,” he said. “He would help me a lot when I first got here. And yeah, I wish Tony all the best and I’m very happy to see him winning.”

The revelations came during Walsh’s post-bout interview after competing in the inaugural Zufa Boxing event at the UFC Apex. The Irish prospect was supposed to have Ferguson in attendance but explained his friend’s absence was due to family matters. “He was supposed to be here actually, you know. Yeah, his son a bit sick, you know, so hope he’s better and he’s doing well.”

For Walsh, Ferguson’s support proved instrumental during a challenging transition period. Moving to Los Angeles as a young competitor without established credit or references was hard. Ferguson’s willingness to co-sign removed a significant barrier, allowing Walsh to focus on his boxing career.
