UFC’s Paulo Costa sends threat to Jake Paul in an attempt to up his stock

Jake Paul has established himself as a prominent figure in the combat sports community. He has started a number feuds with of UFC stars in an effort to get them to participate in boxing matches.

To Paul’s credit, the stars involved in these events ended up with hefty paydays. Which is why Paulo Costa is itching for a date with the youtuber turned boxer.

After the YouTuber criticized Costa’s performance in his victory over Luke Rockhold at UFC 278, Costa fired back.

Costa earlier called Paul his “hero” in a series of tweets directed at the content producer, to which Paul has not yet responded. However, Costa seems to have changed his mind about Paul recently.

In a recent video by Costa, he threatened Paul while flaunting his shredded figure in a gym.

The Brazilian can be seen punching repeatedly and yelling: “Look at that beast. Imagine I chase Jake Paul in the ring like that. Bouncing the head and the chin like Mike Tyson and bam, bam, bam [throws punches]. He’s dead bro, he cannot survive.”

Costa wrote the caption: “Can you imagine if I chased Jake in that ring? He wouldn’t get out breathing.”

Who can blame him? After all he made $65,000 to show $65,000 to win against Rockhold at UFC 278. This figure has been confirmed by Utah State Athletic Commission. Previously Costa lamented that he secured only $35,000 for his five-rounder against Marvin Vettori (in part due to the fact that the bout was at catchweight due to his failing to make weight).

Costa is confirmed to be on the last bout of his contract and is facing former Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in Perth in February of 2023. If we count out Israel Adesanya, Whittaker hasn’t lost since 2014. He systematically dismantled Marvin Vettori back in September.

So naturally Costa would be interested in a boxing exhibition.

On the MMA Hour, Costa said:

“Jake Paul has been doing great things. He was just a YouTuber, he came into the fight business and has done great. It’s a big difference to fight wrestlers from MMA and strikers from MMA, and in my opinion he has avoided these guys [strikers].”

“He’s very smart, he knows to call out guys that he is 100 per cent he can convinced he can beat, Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley. Logan Paul is bigger and is more humble than him, he’s a very different guy and I love Logan Paul.”

“I understand Jake is doing a great job and of course I’d like to get an easy money with him, but I have a better challenge for him. Mike Perry, he’s almost the same weight class. Mike Perry is a savage if Jake wants a real fight.”
